Privacy Policy
Your journal entries are deeply personal. We take that seriously. This policy explains exactly what we collect, how we use it, and your rights over your data.
1. What We Collect
We collect only what's necessary to provide Uncloud's services:
- Account information: Your name and email address when you sign up
- Journal entries: The text you write in the app
- Goals: The goals you select or write during onboarding and in settings
- Mood check-ins: Emoji mood logs and daily streak data
- Usage data: Basic analytics (pages visited, features used, session frequency)
- AI-generated insights: The analysis and reflections generated from your entries
2. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used to:
- Provide personalized AI-generated insights and reflections on your journal entries
- Track your progress over time (sentiment trends, streak, pattern recognition)
- Send your daily reminder notifications (if enabled)
- Generate weekly summaries of your journaling patterns
- Improve app performance and fix bugs
We do not sell your data. We do not use your journal entries for advertising.
3. AI Processing
When you tap "Get Insight," your journal entry is sent to OpenAI's GPT-4o API for analysis. This is how Uncloud generates emotional pattern recognition and personalized reflections.
- Entries are sent to OpenAI solely to generate your insight
- OpenAI's API is used in accordance with their API data usage policies, which prohibit using API inputs to train their models
- Your journal entries are not used to train AI models
- Entries are transmitted securely over HTTPS
4. Data Storage
Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Neon (cloud infrastructure provider). Data is stored on servers in the United States.
- All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections
- Passwords are never stored — we use passwordless (magic link) authentication
- Database access is restricted to Uncloud's application services
5. Data Retention
We retain your data as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing privacy@uncloud.polsia.app.
Upon deletion request, we will remove all journal entries, insights, and personal information within 30 days.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of all data we hold about you
- Correction: Update your name, email, or goals at any time in Settings
- Deletion: Request complete deletion of your account and data
- Export: Export your journal entries and insights via the app's Export feature
- Portability: Receive your data in a machine-readable format
7. Third-Party Services
Uncloud uses the following third-party services:
- OpenAI — AI analysis of journal entries (Privacy Policy)
- Neon — Database hosting (Privacy Policy)
- Render — Application hosting (Privacy Policy)
- Polsia Analytics — Anonymous visit tracking (no personal data)
8. Cookies
Uncloud uses localStorage (not cookies) to store your session information and preferences locally on your device. We use minimal, privacy-respecting analytics that do not track you across other sites.
9. Children's Privacy
Uncloud is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us immediately.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally. When we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated through the app.
